So many things found, so few I can show you. Here is a video of recent work we have been doing after we got a tip from a local village. We do not dig without permission from local authorities and the owner of the land. Live ordnance is reported, holes are filled and no garbage left behind (as it should be!).

An eyewitness report from the late 1970's tells the story that this was a machinegun group of three men, supported by several other riflemen and an 'Ofenrohr Gruppe' facing a group of Americans supported by two Sherman tanks. One was killed by an American handgrenade, the two others surrendered and survived the war. Both have since passed away.

For those interested this is where the music comes from (with permission of author)

For those of you who are asking me questions about where I search, where can I find helmets and guns, can you please take me with you? etc. I am sorry but I only search with a select group of friends and I do NOT reveal locations of where I search. I have a personal interest for the story of this region. Do your research, develop an interest for the story, not just the item. If you are just in in for the relics then please move along.

We have permission from local authorities and landowners, you can not randomly search and dig in fields and forests.

  • @Lasarus89 I AM an archaeologist... 3 years experience, including a 10 week WW1 project in Ypres, you should have seen the ammo we encountered there. If I don't dig up this stuff, it will rot away. I have recovered more information then anyone else has done, I even returned a messkit to a living WW2 veteran in New York and he told me how he lost it. No archaeological dig can get that information! I will put up a video with all the research and work done so far. I am not a looter!

  • It is digs like this that humanize these events. We today only see WW2 on celluloid, in books, or hear the testimony of veterans. Being able to hold actual equipment brings to life events 70 years ago. I only wish I could do this. Fascinating stuff.
