  • and no one got hit?

  • Portland did have a few cable cars in the earlier part of the 20th century, but were gone by this time.

  • Poignant and sad to think all those people are probably on now. Music and video SUPERB.

  • ... Ya know what interesting, we still call them that in Hungary, "troli".

  • they werent cable cars they would be on a cabe then,

they were called "trolleys" they are Electric not cable

  • 6! It's because we're Portland people.

  • Cable cars?

    Portland had those?

By the way, I think we broke a record on youtube. 5 intelligent posts after another. :D

  • Yeah, a lot of streets were 2-way streets back then, and later converted to 1-way, which included cable cars/MAX/etc.

  • Yeah, it took me a second to realize why the setup changed to that.

If the streets have been around like that by that time, the only way you'd get any kind of decent traffic nowdays was/is to split the rail lines.

Thus, you have a one-lane street next to the rails, both EB and WB.

Towards 16th it get's hinky, hitting I-405 and all of that jazz.

  • So it only goes west on Morrison now?
