This is month 7 of my Piano Jazz Project. As you may know, I'm absolutely mad of Bill evans...I wondered if I would dare giving a try...
I have worked quite hard on this tune from Bill Evans. The "Opener " is meant to combine both a ballad like intro with an elaborated solo that gains power as the song goes...I can't count the number of times I ended up being stuck with cramps and difficulties with the fingering...so I had to rehearse it quite intensively until it start to yield results....ultimately, I had no choice but to post it on time for month 7 closing ....hey, I got to keep up with the discipline ;). As always, any comments are welcome !!!

  • Oh, The Opener... one of my favourites by Bill Evans. I love him, but I`m more up to Brad Mehldau and Keith... But yet, I`m fascinated with the result you`ve reached by your 7th month...

As to me, Evans is cold - in a good way, but cold, I`m more attracted to the fire and sunshine Keith got in his fingertips... But that was great!

I guess Keith and Brad have something crazy in their Jazz Journey, and Bill more of a new master of harmonics at his time...love sharing this with a fan like you. Your comments mean a lot to me. many thx for your support and I shall continue to learn and play with your support Natalia. Bless you - arnaud

  • Wonderful! I'm a Bill Evans fan too. I just got back from a modern jazz festival taking place here in Bangkok -- you would have really liked it.

  • @PaulBartonPiano

many thx paul...wish i could be there then :)

  • I hope you're not the type to ignore constructive criticism. I think it could use some dynamics and some better timing. Keep at it :)

Actually, I really appreciate your comments. This is exactly what I need to improve and focus on when I practice THE thing. This tune was clearly a strech as far beyond my level at first place, and yes, got to do better next. i'll keep you input in mind. thanks again. arnaud
