  • Shouldn't the 'ground' actually be "earthed"?

Also, Teflon tape over Nylon seems to be self-defeating. Teflon has a -190 Triboelectric charge, Nylon has +30 charge... the Rubber belt (if it's Natural Rubber) is around -105... too negative. Try Teflon over PVC.

If it's Gum Rubber (-60 charge), then you're about halfway between the Teflon and Nylon charges, which should be good.

I think your top brush was too far from the belt... hard to collect a charge at that distance.

    Good build though!

  • @beforebefore real earth ground did not make a differance. You have your chrges correct :-) I needed nylon or metal on top and teflon on the bottom roller. we can ignore what material i have covered over, the "inside" material does not take effect. Yes, opposite sides of the triboelectric series, and the belt is natural/gum rubber,,,in the middle of the chart. I was thinking aboput making 1 roller covered in rabit fur and the other roller make from glass jar. I bet this would raise some hare!

  • Nice setup!

Looking forward to seeing it working.

  • @IndianaBuddy Thanks, more to come :-)

  • Awesome VDG, I have been looking into static electricity collection as well. I am very eager to see what kind of solid state circuit you come up with. Nice to see your back at it. Peace rawbush

  • @Rawbush Glad to see your still following my vids:-)

I will use either an air ionizer or NST with variac.

Next video on this will be interesting.

    Thanks

  • @beforebefore ok, first, the top roller must be metal, foil tape works best, bottom roller must be felt, and groun it to the motor, check out mine for details

  • @K0W0O0N0 Thanks, it is my second home :-)

  • Cool work center!

    Interesting stuff there too!

    Cheers...
