Courtney Lawes plays for Northampton Saints and is powered by Maximuscle.

We recently caught up with Courtney at his first Maximuscle photo shoot to ask him about the start of the new rugby season and so he could tell us which of the Maximuscle products he could not live without.

  • Question:

Does he have the bodystructure known as an ectomorph?

  • @PureJockPureBrit There are three types of body types Ectomorph, Mesomorph and Endomorphs each refers to genetic body type. It is the natural way your body is, for example some people put on weight quicker than others or some people have bigger bone structure than others. An Ectomorph has the hardest time putting on size in the gym for example. They are a straight build (often tall, skinny types) with narrow shoulders and hips.

  • @PureJockPureBrit - When talking to us, Courtney said "Although I've always been athletic I was blessed with a large frame, the downside was it needed filling out with a lot of muscle. I looked to the NBA for inspiration because many the top players in the States are huge despite having long limbs and torsos......tbc....

  • @PureJockPureBrit ...continued... I soon discovered that I needed 4000-5000 calories a day to get bigger and stronger and it needed to be high quality food! Right now I eat three whole food meals per day, plus Cyclone before/after trainning, Promax sports drink during training and Promax, Progain Flapjacks and Maxi-Milk between meals."

  • @PureJockPureBrit - So, I would say Yes, Courtney's natural genetic body type was more ectomorph than anything else and he has worked very hard to get to the physique he has now

  • man he's hot.

  • @MaximuscleUK I really dont think so to be honest about his physique..

  • @MaximuscleUK Given the size of his frame, I'd say he was more mesomorphic. He may have been slim before he started training, but that frame size is too big to be ectomorphic. I'm 6'4'and ectomorphic. I'm now nearly 16 stone with good muscle, but it's really too much for my frame to handle. I need to slim down. Lawes seems to handle nearly 18 stone ok with his frame though - he seems quite wide at the shoulder to me.

  • cyclone does not get u massive. its an all in 1 not a weight gainer

  • Got a similar topic with Kevin Garnett. If you see his body type, he is ultra skinny, but ultra big frame. As soon as he stops working out, his 6'11 frame turns almost anorexic. But just as quickly, he can build muscle and look like a thoroughbred racehorse. Either way, there is virtually no fat.

  • I MET HIM TODAY WHILST HE WAS PLAYING TENNIS!

  • Met him at the Saints BBQ, he's massive but I hugged him!! :D

  • He is beautiful

  • What a great specimen of a man.

  • Looking at 1:25 he actually has quite a slight legs... for a second row i mean...
