Yep, whoever says Ukrainian is same is Russian, is ignorant or just not informed, even some Ukrainians don't respect their language enough to say "yes it is a language on its own", must be due to the brainwashing of the Soviet Union, which had it's good and bad points, but back to languages. To say Ukr is same as Rus is like saying that an Italian language is same as Spanish or Portuguese. Respect for all of us, people! Ukrainians, Russians, every nation in this world share one home, Earth.

I look at how the Ukrainian language is making a comeback in all the modern genres of music from pop to rock. This is unprecedented. There is an explosion taking place there as we speak. Now it can either get better or the same old Yanuchary will get back in power and fuck the country up again.

@pauls008 As much as I agree with you, Ukraine did get some influence from Russian. Italian is the same way with Spanish actually. They are different languages, but they have similar words and spelling of things. I do believe that Ukraine is different as Russian though.

Ukraine and Russia are two different countries. Yes everyone knows that. Ukrainian and Russian sound very similar but they are different languages. And Ukrainian and Russian people usually know how to speak both languages because they are similar and or just sound similar. I'm Ukrainian and Russian and yeah I know hot to speak both but not everyone does. So just keep that in mind.

@dohurturself No, they aren't. Ukrain may have been under Russia's control at one time, but they are very different in the like. They may be in the same general area, but that would be like comparing China to Japan, sure both are Asian, but with different customs. I hope in the future you will look past your narrow-mindedness and realize there is more to a culture than what meets the eye.
