I just saw this guy over the weekend and came away completely impressed. Can't remember a drummer being such a standout. And, as far as the bombast, over the course of an hour, he has the right stuff where it belongs. The ballad "The Blossom Departs" (I think that was the name) was extraordinary, and the playing was so still and quiet that you could almost hear that damn flower pulling at its stem. If Faulkner keeps the hit right at the front of the beat, and that's where I like it.

@TallSomeone would Elvin tell Tony to relax too? I do agree that he's got a very bombastic style, but there are some players who can use that really musically (especially Tony), including Justin.

This cat goes to my school. I remember jamming with some really good players in the ensemble room in the basement of our dorm and all of a sudden he comes by to sit in on drums for a bit. He literally played probably about a chorus, if that, and just fucking killed it. Beyond talented.

@TallSomeone then again, elvin wasn't from 2010. this is modern jazz, not old school jazz. he's got his own style which is more important.
