I would agree that politicians are paid well....and that they enjoy luxuries we can only dream of..but most of the context of the comments posted here are from un-educated morons. Do you actually think the State of Pennsylvania is a third world country ? Go to a third world country a enjoy the job less, filthy, starving masses of people and you will quickly realize that we have so many benefits. So the bottom line is that Ed is trying to balance a budget and watch watch how the money is used !
Amazing how many stupid conservatives have been conditioned to freak out at hearing the word 'tax'. If it takes 5 or 10 dollars more out of my pay to keep services I need and use, and to keep state employees working, then I say lets have the courage to say yes.
620Muzz -- You are woefully misinformed. What do you prefer? The Senate Republican plan that would require additional massive budget cuts & layoffs of state employees? A tax increase stinks. No one in their right mind wants that. But the alternative is worse. Get a clue and direct your anger at those in the legislature who won't compromise. Blaming only the Governor demonstrates a failure to understand how the budget process works.
Cut 800 State Police Officers? Cut pre Kindergarden schooling? Throw veterans out of medical care? This is what the Repblicans want? For $500 (IF you make $100,000 per year) we can preserve jobs and maintain public services. Sounds like a small price to pay,

I'd rather have a small and temporary tax hike than have my property taxes skyrocket because the PA GOP is interested in passing the buck.
