V6 Firebird intake conversion from V8 SLP lid

after many attempts i bought the slp v8 lid to do my own convrsion. i have searched many fourms and cites and have found nothing to help me make my own intake for my 99 3800 bird. so after many faliures i finnaly bought the v8 slp lid and some supplies to make an intake. The reason i bought the v8 lid is cause there is no v6 lids made anymore.

u will need the slp v8 lid(choose ur corresponding year)-cost me $86
4 inch by 8 foot dryer tubing from home depot only!!-$10
2- 4 1/2 inch band clamps-$5
the 4inch coupler from a $20 spectere cone filter( or make your own adapter)
and a second hand/ helper.

now bench grind the coupler thinner to match the lip already there, grind and fit till the thickness is achieved.
put coupler on throttle body
add the section of dryer tubing that u cut cuz u wont need all 8 ft
clamp it
insert the iac sensor into the corresponding hole in the slp lid. u will prob need to wrap the sensor in electrical tape till thickness is achieved.
then attach the hose to the lid and clamp. you may need to increace the thickness with electrical tape to make a good seal. i did not have to but it may help installation.
now put the lid on. it will b a very tight fit, in the tabs and filter clips. b careful and dont crack anything. lastly put the plug in the hole on the side if it fits. i had to modifly mine. and then check for leaks and enjoy!!!

this mod adds the nice throty sound from the intake and adds a lil power, not enough to brag about but worth it.

Not bad on the writeup. Just FYI, that's the AIT sensor on the lid, not the IAC. I think you said it correctly before when you were in the car :)

If there was a company that would make the V6 Whisper lid again, they're probably make a good bit of cash. I love my whisper lid, bought it used off a member that went with a V8 swap. I can't hear the intake sound anymore though because of my exhaust!
