It's a real shame that steam operation ended in 2008, but the official website said that steam is returning on 9-19-09.

GCR is celebrating their 20th anniversary on the 19th and #4960 will be pulling the regular train to the Canyon for that day only. There is talk of future special runs, perhaps similar to those run over Labor Day weekend where she pulled 45 minute trips to mile post #4 and back.

@tropicalfishswim Wish I could say that is so. It has run on special occasions and will run on this year's National Train day, but only 45 minute round trips. Although it received a brief extension, it is due for its FRA mandated boiler inspections and will not be running until the railroad completes any needed work.
