@Yvesyew Ah, how wrong you are. 90% of a katana is designed for parrying and deflecting, while only the tip is truly razor sharp. This was done so that the katanas wouldn't have a whole lot of length narrow, which would compromise the strength of the steel. Also, Spartan shields were quite the effective weapon. The round and light design is excellent at bashing, and was generally used to get around an opponents defenses. You are thinking of the large, rectangular Roman shield.

@Yvesyew not really, spartans are all offence, the shield is not to block, it is a weapon as well. a samurai is one stroke one kill.

samurai don't use shield... unlike the spartan, spartan are 50% defence, and 50% attack, samurai is 100% for attack, and attack only

@JakobDailes this was inspired by the graphic novel 300. the movie came after this episode aired. but when ever people talk about the battle of thermopylae they think the 300 movie and not the graphic novel or this episode.
