@primenemisis ..EXACTLY ..I wish just one of the cable movie channels would show some imagination and show some forgotten classics, I remember as a kid watching a kung fu flick at night and then have it followed up by a soft porn movie..haha, man the Z-Channel was so cool :)

@primenemisis ...Exactly, I wish there was a movie channel that played more obscure movies like the Z-Channel used to ..the closest we can get now is TCM ..Ahh the good old days huh:)

@PsychicStoner It was a local channel in the LA area!

I couldnt believe the adult programs that were shown at late night, me and my brothers would stay up late and the folks had no idea those shows were been played on TV ..haha, I'm glad I got to watch the channel when it took chances with daring movies, now HBO and the others play the same old crap over and over, sadly we will never see another Z-Channel

Aw man, Z Channel !!!! I remember this channel like it was just yesterday. The intros always sounded very "porno-like" - lol

At 1:10 the bombastic QVC Today's Special Value mix kicks in. They're still using it 20-something years later.

Before cable arrived in my home town, ONtv, The Z Channel & SelecTV, were all broadcasting in So Cal. My dad built decoder boxes and used special antennas to get the programs for free from both On & Z. Z Channel was my fave with many art & foreign films shown as well as obscure and B movies. Good times.

I LOVED Z Channel! The cool movie channel for cool people.
They were the first place on American TV to air "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and one of the few ahywhere to air the complete, uncut, nearly 4 hour long versions of both "1900"(1976) & "Heaven's Gate"(1980).
Long live Z!

I saw it on IFC a year ago and it surely is sad what became of the man behind this channel.
What ever happen to Z

It's a sad story but it's been thoroughly chronicled in a documentary called Z Channel - A Magnificent Obsession (which I rented on Netflix).
