After watching the video done by Homoclassicus, I was inspired to do my own version of thrilling high notes that I feel are some of the best moments in opera. Some of these are sung as written while most are interpolated. Some are your standard high E flats but some are not even a high C but I think that all these notes add drama, thrill, passion and intensity to the scene. The details of the video are as follows:

1. A vos jeux, mes amis (Hamlet) - Mady Mesple
2. Bel raggio lusinghier (Semiramide) - Sumi Jo
3. Final scene (Don Carlo) - Alessandra Marc with Giuseppe Giacomini
4. E un anatema! (La Gioconda) - Maria Callas & Fiorenza Cossotto
5. Bella figlia dell'amore (Rigoletto) - Joan Sutherland & Luciano Pavarotti
6. Ah, non giunge (La sonnambula) - Maria Callas
7. Ah, franchigia a Floria Tosca (Tosca) - Adriana Guerrini & Gianni Poggi
8. Mad scene (Il pirata) - Montserrat Caballe
9. Final scene (Der fliegende Hollander) - Leonie Rysanek
10. Confrontation scene (Maria Stuarda) - Beverly Sills & Marisa Galvany
11. Condotta ell'era in ceppi (Il trovatore) - Fiorenza Cossotto feat. Placido Domingo
12. Ah, Roland! (Esclarmonde) - Dominique Gless
13. Finale (Faust) - Joan Sutherland & Franco Corelli with Nicolai Ghiaurov
14. Deh, rallentate, o barbari! (Il trovatore) - Shirley Verrett
15. Hojotoho! (Die Walkure) - Birgit Nilsson

Hope you enjoyed it and Part 2 will be coming up soon!

  • @MusicalNut84 Which recording is Sumi Jo's Semiramide from?

  • @kngiht84 I actually ripped it from her album "Bel Canto". It's the most virtuosic version I've heard of that aria actually.

  • there is a Callas Abigail recording, unsurpassable I miss it from here as #1, also a Butterfly w/ Callas and do not forget La Price as Butterfly, this Rysanek here from the Hollander

  • @egymagyar1111111

I posted the high note Callas interpolated at the end of the Nabucco-Abigaille duet in another video entitled "MORE Thrilling High Notes Part 2" which you can watch under my channel as well.

  • your site has taught me so much about the human voice. this is magical. i thank you.

  • Thanks for this video!

  • Madame Marc is another soprano who doesn't get half the credit she is due.

  • No more Callas and Caballe please, jesus. I can't stand the poor quality of their ancient recordings. I can't accurately judge their work because of primitive the recordings are, but lord their voices are so unappealing. More Diana Damrau please.
