New Motorola ICS Webtop (3.0 Beta) on DROID RAZR. Android ICS Tablet experience on Lapdock!

I docked the RAZR (Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3) to an old Atrix lapdock and here are the results. Ubuntu & Firefox are gone, now we have a robust Ice Cream Sandwich tablet experience. Note: The ports were reversed on the lapdock so the RAZR will fit.

What is the battery life on the atrix lapdock? Does it charge the phone like the later webtops?

Which would be better, the atrix one or the 100/500?

I get about 7 hours or so of battery life and it charges the phone while plugged in. I don't know much about the 100 or 500, I got the Atrix lapdock because AT&T was selling it new for $50 at the time.

Does the phone still get unreasonably hot when docked? Do you have to reboot the phone after undocking to get decent battery life again? Mine currently gets hot when streaming Netflix while docked, and reboots when a phone call comes in on GB.

No, doesn't seem to get hot at all. I often watch a couple hours of Netflix straight with no issue. I've never had a phone call come through while it was docked, so I can't comment on that.

I to got the Atrix for At&T for my Droid Bionic for $43 off eBay. I had to modify the port on the LapDock but it works awesome. I haven't tried it on the new Ice Cream. I will now.

I've also had those resolution problems. I still sometimes have, but my RAZR (Europe) hasn't received the ICS update from Motorola so far. If the resolution is wrong after plugging in the phone I waited for some seconds until everything is loaded, closed the lapdock and re-opened it immediately. This solved the problem for the most part.

Hi - thanks for the video. I have an Atrix lapdock as well but mine is not acting as nicely as yours. I upgraded my unrooted Razr Maxx to ICS with the stock OTA update. When I connected it to my Atrix lapdock, the viewable area was very small, forced into letterbox, and the resolution was terrible. Fonts were pixelated and stretched. Did you do any other adjustments to get it to look so nice? Thanks!

Sounds like a bad lapdock unit to me. I don't know anything else it could be based on your thorough testing

I just purchased a new one Atrix Lapdock, I did the "mod" by rotating de connections, but when I plug the phone I get "No hdmi signal", I put a little pressure and still nothing. I removed the plastic in order to connect he lapdock cables directly to the phone but nothing. I test with 2 RAZR's one with ICS and one with Froyo and nothing. I connected my phone to the TV and it works perfectly... so what do you think could be happening? Am I get a bad lapdock unit?
