The Scam : Steve Mapes quotes a price over the phone. "That will be $75 Easy". Then when it's time to collect the money he brings out his helper. At that time Steve Mapes tells them, "That will be $75 EACH". When the women or elderly people disagree about the price and tell Steve what he really said on the phone, Steve Mapes starts screaming at them. This usually intimidates the woman or elderly person in to paying the entire amount. Steve Mapes does this on a daily basis in Lincoln Nebraska. When he is confronted about ripping off women and the elderly he starts screaming and making threats.
Much of Steve's behavior is due to constant Meth and crack use for decades. The Lincoln Police nor the Courts System have been able to do anything because Steve was the son of a respected local multi-millionare that gave many donations to UNL. Steve is a four time felon for drug charges but has only done weeks in jail. Anyone else would be locked up for years if LPD had to keep kicking your door in. The Lincoln Police Department are often sympathetic to Steve Mapes's victims. Steve Mapes was busted by the LPD for sexually harassing a 16 year old girl in public he did not know. When the girl's poor father showed up at Steve's house to rip him to shreds, LPD had to carry the man away kicking and screaming. The girl's father was not charged.

After that Steve Mapes flings open the door of the pawn shop and spits all over the window. Steve then starts screaming outside in front of dozens of people in near full capacity sidewalk traffic. "YOU FIN JEW! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU FIN JEW!!"
Steve Mapes does this at a new place in Lincoln Nebraska every day. he rips off a new elderly person every day. Don'y believe these stories? Just ask a certain off duty Lincoln Police Officer that was caught in the hauling scam. They threw up their hands in the air and wrote out the check, knowing she could do nothing.
You see, Steve Mapes is/was the son of a very wealthy family. Steve Mapes was kicked out of school in the 6th grade. Even the Lincoln Public Schools top shrinks could not help. They all threw up their hands and actually allowed someone to hault their education at age 12. That's right, Lincoln Public Schools bent the LAW to get him out of their system. He was never home schooled and went on to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on meth and crack. (fact)
Steve Mapes had a hauling job in Lincoln Nebraska for an elderly woman. Her husband had recently passed. Steve was instructed to haul away an old desk and some junk. The poor old widdow forgot to remove her husband's papers from the desk. There was his drivers license, passport, birth certificate, social security card and Amateur Radio License. Steve was busted by an undercover cop posing as a gay man looking to pay for sex. Steve made a deal to give the man oral -pleasure for money. Ironic was, Steve was busted by the same sting operation that brought down the nice gay man that was the weatherman at a local news station.
