Heritage minister William Ole Ntimama now says retired president Daniel arap Moi arm twisted him into getting him to sign away Mau forest land on which Kiptagich tea estate now lies. Ntimama, a vocal supporter of the Mau evictions, says Moi used his powers then to get whatever he wanted. Nitmamas statement comes just a day after Moi insisted that he was given the land by the Narok county council. Pamela Asigi reports.

  • Moi, on a very small presidential salary of $20, 000 a year, made $4 billion. He is very talented, considering as president, one is not allowed to continue in private business. Read Kroll Report, commissioned by the Kenyan Govt after Moi was booted from power.

  • ITS TIME TO CALL IT A DAY MR NTIMAMA.RETIRE FROM POLITICS

  • @wawaithira I agree with you fully. Now we have no timber, and in my village the chief can arrest you for pruning your own tress because there is a 'government order' restricting 'cutting' of trees.

On the other hand, there is evidence that trucks belonging to a Kenyatta family company (Timsales) are seen each night carting away hardwood from the Mau, even in the midst of this crisis. Such irony and theft.

  • What the heck!It is in the highest selfish, looting interest that Moi was "given'land when thousands of kenyans ,his people then were homeless across the nation. This confirms what a fake leader of the people we had in the name of Moi.

  • Moi and Company actually need to pay us for all the environmental devastation and illegal gains they got from this grabbed public lands.

Obako and Ogwambo need to turn the tables on them when it comes to a compensation debate.

If they have a problem doing so, just nominate Michuki as the Lands Minister and he will do so on behalf of knyans.

  • Moi should be made to pay more, Kenya was a sole exporter of Podo, Mahogany, Iron wood and Ebony, thanks to Moi raping our forests. Today timber only comes from Congo DRC. Those greedy fat cats should not even get a cent. If land in Mau was security then banks should attach their property. Yes impunity must stop

  • No one questions the reclamation and conservation of the water tower, but good should be done across the board. I am only Kenyan like you and my opinion is still Kenyan, however foolish or misguided it is. But a few facts back it, yes when Raila was politicking and saying Nairobi stock exchange is a den of thieves, he was not divisive but today when we differ with him we are dividing Kenyans, history likes repeating itself I can see.

  • what are you talking about the must get out of mau .Raila is donig agood the youm demonising him and his doing a good thing what molasses people like you doint help in building kenya only help in dividing people

  • @2190g1 in the west that is called conflict of interest or rather using pocision of power to acquire wealth (corruption)
