    regarding: "publically available scientific journals".

Is this really the case? I imagine many of these papers are behind paywalls the size of an institutional subscription. Unfortunately, without open source journals you don't have "open" science in any real way.

=Is this really the case? I imagine many of these papers are behind paywalls the size of an institutional subscription= No, at most you have to pay around $30 to buy a paper online. You can access journals free in most university libraries. Publicly available means publicly available; it doesn't mean free.

Could you cite 1 of these purported 900 peer reviewed papers as well as the aforementioned petition? About the latter, three things come to mind, 1 it's not data, 2 it's an unspecified kind of scientists (the last time I saw that about a petition it turned out none of the one's that were in the appropriate field actually consented to their names being included), and 3 rejecting the kyoto treaty =/= no consensus on AGW.

It would only be a strawman if no one was actually making the conspiracy argument. Many are, so it's perfectly legitimate to refute it.

Also, the scientific community didn't reject relativity or quantum mechanics for decades. Relativity was already gaining widespread acceptance by the time the first empirical tests could be carried out a only few years after the introduction of General Relativity.

You're putting up a strawman. You don't need a "conspiracy" for the scientific community to agree on a wrong theory. Just think back to relativity or quantum mechanics, both of which were strongly rejected by the scientific community for decades.

the communism thing is more ideological, nihilism, viewing human activity as a disease or cancer, the idea were overpopulated, & that earths resources are finite, all fits very well into the ideologies of communism, socialism & technocracy.

well their are several conspiracy theories. the most known are: 1 claims that global warming hypothesis is created by cryptoeugenists trying to subjugate the have-nots of society as they tend to think of them. 2 another claims that the environmentalist movement has been hijacked by wall street to push the tax, cap & trade scheme. 3 another argues that both are the case & that anthropogenic global warming is being overexaggerated to push malthusian & population control agendas.
