Great music by Thomas Jarman (1776-1861) - one of the few 'fuguing' hymns (and by a non-mainstream, non-university-taught composer) that survived the later Victorian culling of music that was fun to sing. Perhaps a few harmonies have been altered here (final cadence, and descant in last verse) plus unnecessary organ accompaniment. The hymn was indeed written be Wesley, but this tune is by Jarman, and he deserves recognition for that at least; go and seek out his other compositions!

There's another tune for this knocking around on U Tube and it's awful. Thank God there are still people with taste! This is great.
Such wondrous choral singing, perfect synchronization of male and female voices. Do you know which choir sang this hymn?

@brandenburg2388 They are called "The St Michael's Singers" and the hymn was recorded in Coventry cathedral, England.
