This is the 105 key Decap organ playing on Midi "Rampart Street Racoon". This is a long awaited nighttime video that many organ enthusiasts have asked for. The organ is owned and was restored by Jim Welty of Fairborn, Ohio.

NOTE: This was filmed in 33 degree Ohio weather and the tone of the organ is a bit "off". We will be updating the audio sometime late Spring 2010.

Originally the organ was 7 feet longer and 5 feet higher. It required major modifications and compaction to fit it into the trailer. Many of the instrument modules had to be shortened and relocated without destroying the basic tone of the organ. This was done over a two year period.

The organ is now playing on Midi technology but retains the original key frame and is capable of playing the original 105 key book music, which is often done at rallies.

The basic organ was sold as new in about 1979, but many parts and pipe units are from pre-war Decap organs. It was common to reuse some of these older parts in so-called new machines. The organ originally was utilized in Antwerp, Belgium in an establishment serving alcoholic beverages -- and other forms of adult entertainment.

No animals were harmed in the making of this video.

  • Mega---Dont know what you said---but Thanks for sending !!

  • All basicaly synthesizer tones. Some backed up with pipes. A friend who has been in the sound business for years has made some changes that do bring out the bass tones more than they originally were.

  • @kazombie----She is asleep for winter but will be back out in spring. We did two rallys last year with thisorgan and two with the Artizan.

  • I was hoping for some volunteers, but the best we have seen so far were a few polka dancers !!!

  • Great video,

How long did it take to restore?

    Ben

  • @musicmachinesuk ---Hi Ben---About two years for organ , trailer, and wiring. Still am improving and changing things. Enjoy your web-site. Jim

  • @rettaman - The Surf City Hotel on Long Beach Island, years ago had a monster like this. The only difference is that they had a live musician playing the whole works! What a ZANY scene that guy created with the contraption!!!

  • @JCJasion - I agree...some of it does sound like tuning needs to be done. Other than that, it sounds good.

  • Is this home made?

  • Sounds like parts of it are still need of tuning calibration.

  • Vraiment génial... la musique... les jeux de lumières, tout est fait pour passer un agréable moment !!!

    Bis !!!!!!!!!

  • Do I hear an electric bass in there? Is that one of the ones with the digital module? Really nicely supported on the low end.

  • Jim, I really like your machine here. You take her out much?
