2) after my quite confusing trip on jpc dot de, I think THIS recording sounds like the D MAJOR but played one half tone higher. This could be a common practice though it's confusing enough... (the one in E flat is supposed to be for a much smaller instrumentation than the E major one).

isn't it in vienese tuning tuned one semitone higher? his 1 3 5 arppegios are always barred with one finger.

@BaboonBassoon I suppose it's in D major. My source: I've found the Hungaroton CD recording of this work and they say it's in D.
