  • Ok nevermind. Just looked at Wikipedia and they say HE influenced George Jones' vocal style. Works for me.

  • They sound real good live. You can sure hear George Jones influence on Johnny's vocal style here.

  • This version is awesome! True Americana of our past. The best part is the end, re: having a hole in his sock. wtf? haha I wish I couldve watched this live.

  • just a grat old tune like my dad played.young jhonnie black.on that old jhoinny black sorry...young jhonnie paycheck.sweet

  • Son!

  • I recently discovered Johnny Paycheck...wow. This guy is amazing! He really means it when he sings!! A pure voice, and he maintained to have a superb voice in his old age. It was tough to put down the old violin! Whatever THAT is, he had it deep! Paycheck rules

  • @lBStrokin thats the damn truth, too! :)

  • Paycheck (Lytle) singing young and hungry doing a Hank Cochran song like no other. You want real music, get his cd " The Little Darlin' Years," Lloyd Greene played the steel on the studio version, and wow, it certainly is a Hall of Fame Classic!

  • Glen Davis is playing the drums on this clip as well - he later became staff drummer for the Grand Ole Opry (1970s-1990s). Love his version of this song the best

  • Who is the Steel player in this clip?

  • My favorite Johnny Paycheck song of 'em all! I have to agree, this song sure does "kick major country ass!!" I'd say it has to be nearly the top "Honky-Tonk 'Shuffle Beat' song" of all time! I love it!!

  • Fabulous in every way!
