  • Find the original version.

Trust in the harmony, the Lady and the lyrics.

They loved each other, before the Money got in the Way.

  • @USAsoldier1955 I was in Navy in 1977 stationed in DC. I had a buddy from Texas who had the tape with this song on it. I asked who in the hell was that singing ... thus my love of I&S began. It's been 44 yrs and I still get that funny feeling about love & life when I hear I&S

  • God Bless Sir Ian! :)

  • I have loved this song since the 60s. Nadine

  • This has been one of my all time favorite songs since the '60's and one of the great story songs of all time. Thanks for the upload. Two dislikes? Not possible

  • LOVE IT ~

  • One of the best country songs ever written in my opinion. I say that , but it really transcends genre. Lots of love in the music and lyrics.

  • Although this song is certainly capable of romantic relationships between men & women....

as the original lyrics reveal, it's a song about male bonding & friendship in the Western subculture of the rodeo. Ian Tyson is not only a great singer, he is a hard working, true icon of the North American West.

    If Ian isn't a cowboy -- nobody is! :)

  • @Dembowski4847 Amen! :)

  • @Dembowski4847 the year was 1967 not 1977..... need to proof read a little better

  • @USAsoldier1955 Hear, hear!

  • @Garpinator I am a native Texan, son of a Florida Cracker Moma & a Free Soiler Illinois Daddy, growing-up in Northern Indiana in the 1960s. Listened to CBC from Windsor as a lad, and became an Anglophile by age 10. My wife & I became Life Members of The Monarchist League of Canada in 1980, visiting Toronto & Lower Ontario in the '80s.

My take on Americans who appreciate Ian Tyson is:

    1.) Those growing-up in the '60s & early '70s.

2.) Those with broad & sophisticated musical tastes.

    :)
