How does a hypothetical possibility of multiple universes trump the measurable evidence of design that we know really does exist? That's really goofy thinking. Hawkings has a great mind, but what evidence for his hypothetical thinking actually exists? What we know of this world says it is fine tuned for life.

No one collected because he sets the rules so that you can never win the money. To him no evidence in the world would prove evolution because he is committed to his personal beliefs. It's the argument from personal incredulity, and no evidence will ever make him change his mind.

Without refuting the "common sense" arguments, he's playing right into the creationist strategy of making evolution look absurd and unbelievable. He needs to dismantle the "common sense" arguments as a smokescreen before proceeding.
