The Port of Long Beach's Clean Trucks Program marked its one-year anniversary in October 2009. Already, the program has seen the replacement of 5,000 older, dirty trucks with clean, new big rigs. The program is ahead of schedule in reducing air pollution from trucks.
What a horrible initiative. Incredibly damaging to all the vendors that service the POLB and POLA. Polution will be significantly reduced with the continued trend of freight being diverted to Canada, and soon, the port in Ensenada. The onurous fees that both LA area ports assess will assure that polution decreases right along with TEU tally - Nice job, port commission!!
