http://www.dslrfilmnoob.com/2011/03/17/haier-7-hlt71-video-review/ When I first saw this monitor last year the price was almost $140. Since the price was not much less then the Lilliput monitor I basically dismissed it. But since the monitor was discontinued this year, the price has dropped to $44, which makes it a much more attractive option for filming.

The monitor is still only standard definition, but it does have an audio amplifier and a built in battery. On top of that it has a very handy wide screen mode that allows you to use the whole screen instead of the center section of the screen.

On the down side batteries are a bit pricey at $20 a pop, the screen isn't extremely bright, and the 1/4 20 hole on the bottom of the monitor isn't quit 1/4 20 ( I had to us a tape to clean out the threads).

  • @ShadowManV3 Yeas the price has really shot up over the last 5 months. I've seen it priced as high as $120.

  • I only see it for about $100 on amazon and ebay, dunno where you found it for 44...

  • It's an Asian brand pronounced (hay-er) I wish I bought it at $44! Darn!

  • I just checked on eBay and the cheapest one was $79.99. I got lucky today though and picked one up locally from a guy who advertised in the paper. Just $40. Works great!

  • HELP... I bought the haier monitor but when I connected on my Sony NEX5 i did not get video or sound. The Sony Nex5 is a mini HDMI. So, I bought a RCA video component to HDMI and an mini HDMI to HDMI adapter. Please, anybody ever tried to connect that monitor on a Sony NEX? Thank you
