  • @defundthewar So call names. Typical liberal, huh? I deal in facts--everything I said about Nancy was factually correct and logical, but you-- the smartest guy in the room, just has to disagree over and over, to have the last word, because he can't accept that he is wrong. Trash Nancy--whine--run away. But that's a liberal for you. Goodbye.

  • @BarneyGoogle1950 Methinks you are an athhole who likes to argue too much. I don't care whom you think I resent or not. Frank, although not a nice person, was and is my pop musical idol. I have been guilty of hogging this board along with you, and- I don't know about you- but this is where I get off.

  • @defundthewar In fact, Nancy had many hits, as much talent as many pop performers, and a nice little run. Are you one of those anti-anything-Sinatra people? I never said Nancy was a star--I said she was more popular than her dad, for a brief period. I never said Nancy was a cultural phenomenon--- I said the record "Boots" and the public response to it created one. Check all over youtube. You are right, she deserves no resentment--yet you resent her. Methinks thou protesteth too much.

  • Yes, we agree: 1) Nancy had a monster hit one year, and 2) She was not all that good. Where we disagree is that I say if she needed the name and pull of her father to be a star, and never strayed beyond her dad and his connections, she was not a star. And no, I say she wasn't a cultural phenomenon or representative of any great sociological, political or sexual significance. She seemed a nice person anyway, certainly deserving no resentment.

  • We are hogging the board and should stop. Yes, we agree: 1) Nancy had a monster hit one year, and 2) She was not all that good. Where we disagree is that I say if she needed the name and pull of her father to be a star, and never strayed beyond her dad and his connections, she was not a star. • @defundthewar You must have some sort of Nancy resentment, I don't understand. Simple answer: Nancy's "Boots" sold about six million copies. She sold more records than her father in 1966. One of the biggest selling records in history. It was a cultural phenomenon, all tied up with the 60's social changes. And yes I agree, I don't think she was all that good. But her moment in the sun cannot be denied. I rest my case.

  • @BarneyGoogle1950 I'm familiar with Frank's specials & Nancy's work, and I recall when so many girls wore boots to school that it became a dress code issue. (Culottes were also a problem but not Nancy-related.) I don't want to hog the board so I'll just say that if Nancy did anything in records, film, TV, Vegas that wasn't Frank-related or arranged, I'm not aware of it, and this does not a star make. Even Mia Farrow, who HAD a career, was dismissed (unfairly) by many as a hanger-on.
