Dave learns he has high blood pressure, so Joe builds him a "Garelli" white noise machine to relax, and Dave becomes quite addicted to it. Meanwhile, Matthew becomes motherly toward Max after a conversation with Beth.

Max: Last train to Boresville.
This is a reference to the song 'Last Train to Clarksville' by the Monkees.

Dave: All we are is dust in the wind.
When Dave is in an extremely relaxed state, he quotes a line from the chorus of 'Dust in the Wind' by Kansas.

Beth:(Discussing how to make Dave relax)If you guys hold him down, I can force him into some yoga positions.

  • oh im well aware of who r. crumb is. i was introduced to his work yeears ago. thats the thing though, "Stone cold bummer" and "keep on truckin" were just common phrases used among many throughout all the comics. they were written by an acid junky in the heart of the free love era. its something that youd have to read quite abit to be able to pick up on the joke.

  • Honestly I wasn't aware of who or what Mr. Crumb until your comment, thanks.

  • iunno if this was meant to be. but at one point in part 2/3 lisa says "thats a stone cold bummer mr. natural but you gotta keep on truckin'"

im rather positive shes referring to Robert Crumbs char. Mr. Natural... deffinetly his style of slang.

iunno if you make up your own info or if it comes with dvd, but just thought id throw it atcha ;)

    cheers. thnx for the uploads

  • Thanks and You're welcome.

Robert Crumb is the creator of Zap Comix, Mr. Natural, Fritz the Cat and Keep on Trucking. So it probably is a reference to him. Where does 'that's a stone cold bummer' come from?

  • This was one of the best sitcoms on tv. They even managed to replace the loss of the great phil hartman in such a way that the integrity of the show continued. What a loss
