That's a NYC thing. I'm unsure what font size requirements Bloomberg imposed, however, it seems like your cupcake shop could have met the requirements in a way more pleasing to the eye, e.g. by making the name bigger than the cal count or separating them slightly. Chipotle and I think Cosi align the name of the dish to the left and the calories to the right--clearly visible but more subtle than you described. I like seeing the calorie count when eating but agree it shouldn't be too obnoxious.

If it makes you happy who cares what they put on the tag! After having three kids you deserve every crum of that cupcake!

I think the real reason they are doing it is so that people don't sue them for being obese...it's all about covering your butt these days!

For people watching their calories, I find it SUPER helpful....for people not watching calories....I can see its annoying-ness (New word!) I do like it at restaurants, so if I want to make a better choice, I can w/o being the annoying.....can I please have your nutrition facts. I don't feel as high maintenance. ON THE OTHER HAND......if you are in a bakery.... you're there for a splurge! The nutrition facts on the wall, or a section of 100 calories items (THEY WOULD BE SO SMALL!! haha!).
