I can't get enough of these old timey love songs... Thanks...

Someone sometime should mix Scrappy's and Gene Kelly's versions of this song so we could get some idea of what they might have sounded like together.

The Penny Serenade song :)

Wow! I didn't know that! Thank you very much. Can't wait to use this new strategy!

glad to hear this. when my grandpa died i got this song in my head. i hummed it to my mom, and she said he used to sing it around the house when she was growing up and that it was one of his favorites. he never sang it around me that i remember, but i looked for it everywhere and found it in a bargain bin for $1 in a collection by bing crosby. lovely song! wish popular music sounded like this today!

you don't have to do anything like that in the future. just put the song name you want and a comma then -whatever you don't want. in this case ", -jewel" and you're in business. i sympathize with the oh brother feeling you must have had though...

A wonderful tune and a masterful rendition. I also recommend the 1928 Spanish version by Carlos Gardel the Tango King (1890-1935) recorded in Paris with a guitar accompaniment. Enjoy

It's quite unbelievable that this is the same singer who did this song also with Nat Shilkret. He sounds totally different in these two versions.

By the way, really nice song, brings back some memories :)
Wonderful alternate version by this great versatile vocalist who isn't getting the recognition he deserves. Thank you for sharing!
