This one's dedicated to Butch! Here we see some rough shots of the area around the Virginia and Truckee Railroad's F Street Depot/Station in Virginia City, Nevada. As the train rolls in we see the newly acquired Reno car sitting across the street in the parking lot. This car was built in 1910 in the Harriman style, but it's not a Harriman Coach. It was called a 'smoker.' The V&T Railroad will work on this car over the next year or so.

We see shots of the car, inside and out, then we look quickly at the private caboose collection between the depot and the (privately owned) original Virginia and Truckee passenger depot, now a private residence.

Then we go back to the yard to see the rest of what Tom Gray had to say about the Gold Hill car, one of two new-old passenger cars acquired over the last couple years at the V&T. The Gold Hill and its sister, the Silver City, can be seen in other videos running the rails to Carson City and back through Gold Hill to Virginia City.

  • Yeah, it's hard to get him to sit still for five minutes so I let him stand. I'd like to do more like this.
