In 1985 Theodorakis gave a concert in Belgium with his ensemble. Here are the songs of that concert.

Asma Asmaton from the cycle Mauthausen (Kambanellis) sung by Maria Farantouri

  • I'm burning, please some one translate this to English.

  • there is allready a translation. Display all the reactions and you will find it

  • O' thanks! Found it.

Uhm, well, I am sure it's all about the aesthetic pulchritude getting lost in translation, or these were not the best translations or something because I find the song WAAAAY more impressing that the lyrics now. Could also be partially because I love Maria, BIG TIME, I don't know. I wish I hadn't read the translation.

    thanks a lot anyhow.

  • You're welcome.

Personally I think the simplicity of the words which have been accurately translated makes the horror of the story of which they tell more strongly felt.

  • I have removed all comments that were not about this music. I feel there are enough fora to ventilate opinions for or against these topics. Myself I think that any attitude that is fueled by "if you are not for us, you are against us" will forever perpetuate strife instead of solving it. If you feel offended or censored by this action I appologize but I do not wish my uploads in the music section to become a political or religious arena.

  • How beautiful my love is

    In her everyday dress

And a little comb in her hair

No-one knew how beautiful she is

    Young girls of Auschwitz

    Young girls of Dachau

    Have you seen my love?

We saw her on a long journey

She no longer had her dress

Nor the little comb in her hair

  • I listen to this song for the first time this evening ; it made me cry ! Thank you so much for posting this ! Greetings from France !

  • @rangvi you cry, even you don't understand what it sais?? (i'm from greece)

  • I bumped into this almost a year after I first listened to and this still gives me goosebumps. It's so freaking everlasting and immortal.

  • I moved to Paros more than a year ago planning to stay three months and have made it my home. I am in love with the light, the rocks, the crazy winds, the passion, all of which I feel deeply in your music and in Fantantouri's voice. I will learn this song in Greek, though I don't know if I could ever sing it without weeping. Ευχαριστο.

  • beautiful...

    from a black/death metalhead freak.
