"Dutch Hop" became the name for traditional German Russian folk dancing during WWI when "German" music became politically incorrect. The signature steps are essentially a polka with a few additional flares....
A workshop sponsored by the Nebraska Folklife Network took place in Lincoln, Nebraska in July 2010 during the National Convention of the Germans from Russia Society.
Funny, I had never heard it called, "Dutch Hop" and I grew with that music but I can see why the name changed. German phobia - it existed here in North Dakota too. Great music no matter what it is called. Thanks for sharing this!
