Although the violence in London has ended, Britain is still dealing with the effects of the riots that battered the country in August.
Chloe Lizotte, student reporter for the Pulitzer Center, asked Britons on the streets of London what they think of the violence in August. While opinions vary between those who sympathize with the rioters and those who don't, most agree that violence and looting aren't the best way to achieve justice.
For many sympathizers, August riots were fueled by the widening gap between the rich and the poor as well as Britain's class system that prevents the less fortunate from moving up the socioeconomic ladder. This might signal Britain's fragile future, as similar "Occupy" movements are gaining supporters all over the world. It is uncertain whether or not the movement in Britain will repeat the anarchic pattern of the August riots.
