@Mr223wssm I'm not a fan of T. Boone's, but I do think you should know that he has absolutely nothing to do with the decline of Lake Meredith. The Canadian River Municipal Water Authority, which runs Lake Meredith, has a FAQ section on it's website that explains that lake of rainfall in the watershed, UTE reservoir utilization upstream in NM, and the spread of the salt cedar in addition to demand on the lake from the CRMWA member cities (namely Amarillo and Lubbock) are the culprits.
I grew up at the lake and loved every minute of it. I moved to Pennsylvania in 1996 and haven't seen it since. If people would wake up and realize that Tboone Picket is stealing that lakes water and giving it to Dallas,Amarillo,Lubbock there would be more water in the lake. He is going to make more than 1 billion dollars in water sales in the next ten years alone. Most of it on Texas land alone. I heard him say that with my own two ears.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of camping / skiing / fishing / hiking at that lake. It’s so sad that I will not be able to share those things with my children. I always loved how the water would turn emerald green right before a storm. It seemed that the greener it became, the worse the storm would be. I also got a kick out of watching the drunks scrambling to load their boats.... I guess its time to sell the boat and buy a dune buggy. Thank you rodnich for posting this.
I live in Borger. We've watched the water levels drop over the past few years. It's been sad. I've lived here 30 some years and have enjoyed the lake with my kids and grand kids. The marina closing in a very emotional event. On my youtube videos there is one of my grand kids feeding the fish at the marina. Sad, sad times with the loss of what use to be a wonderful recreational area for families.
Thanks for posting footage of the last days of the marina.
I heard that T Boone Pickens is partially responsible for the drop of water level. My dad told me 10 years ago that pickens was able to con the politicians into letting him take water from the panhandle, didn't say Lake Meredith but implied, and sell the water to the Dallas area. The Lubbock paper had the story.

@azkeyz Some of the water lose is caused by the damns built up river. The other reasons is change of water shed and the misuse of water.
