system76 gazelle

This is a very crappy video taken from my HTC Touch. I just got a System76 Gazelle (http://www.system76.com) laptop and it's pretty sweet. Before I bought it I looked for videos and reviews, so I thought I'd upload something quick to help spread the word. Feel free to ask me questions

@mousemasters nope, i got it so I wouldn't have to buy/run Windows :) the graphics card may not be the best ever for gaming so you may want to look elsewhere

I'm really confused right now.. I've been looking at the System76 website and, to me, it seems that the only difference between the Gazelle and the Serval Professional is the price and the capacity (Gazelle can only have 1.5GB Nvidia whereas the Serval can have 2.0GB) Any ideas? And they both look the same. I'm thinking about getting a Gazelle. :)

@Hug0101 yeah, the main difference is the graphics card. i don't do any intense video editing or gaming, so the Gazelle is still plenty bad-ass for me! aside from initial problems with the Nvidia driver (see above) it's been a fantastic machine and it looks damn slick as well.

Hey can you tell me about the case? I think the gazelle and servel are the same other than the case. And the servel has rubberized finish. I want to know how the gazelle looks does it look like cheap plastic in person? I am used the MacBooks I know it is no MacBook. But I like Ubuntu and would live to try an Ubuntu only machine. Thanks. Can you do another video update? Even of you don't have it anymore love to know why you got ride of it. Thanks.

@adamscottneal Oh, okay. Well I'm quite a gamer but I don't need anything that high-end. The Gazelle should do fine for my type of gaming. :)

@adamscottneal can always do the Unity2d :) I watched someone on Arch with KDE using nouveau and seemed to be all right so could just be a glitch for unity 3d.

@PenguinRecordings it had an issue with the proprietary Nvidia driver, but I switched to nouveau and it works great. Of course, now I can't run Unity, but I like Gnome better anyway. It's been working great streamiing HD video and running audio stuff like Ardour and SuperCollider (I'm not really a gamer though). It's not the quietest laptop in the world, because it has those huge exhaust ports - but, that keeps it cool! Overall I really like it.

The system looks pretty darn sweet man, hows it been running for you? Tried any high specced games like Unigine's Oilrush? Interested to know how well it runs or not.
