I'm not 100% sure, but I think that's an automatic transmission with a trans brake. I didn't ask him what was wrong, but it does look like he had trouble getting it into gear. The important thing is that he got to make both of his runs anyways, and I got at least one of them on video!

That's true, lol. Breaking on the way up is never fun, but at least in this case it wasn't a transmission like so many other unfortunate victims of Mount baldy.
And thank you! I'll be there again this Spring and Fall with my new camera, so the next hillclimb videos will be in 720p HD! (My first upload with that camera is the 500ci Caddy engine dyno found in my profile.)

It's not too bad, just a few broken bolts more or less.
The lower pulley came off the engine, and with it the supercharger belt. If the supercharger isn't spinning, the engine cannot get any air, so it stalled.
It cost him maybe $20 and 2 hours to repair, depending on how hard it was the get the bolts out.
