Yea, Mt. Vernon Baptist in Memphis has the late Bishop GE Pattersons' former Minister of Music. He is well skilled. I wish you good skills with your church.
Also I hope that you guys can find a spiritual covering from a confident and non insecure Pastor or Minister. Someone who will build you up and tell when you are off track. We all need guidance to keep us morally and spiritually accountable. I wish you well and look forward to you putting Tennessee on the Map with excellent music.

@GRE1400 Yes Mt Vernon has a good choir. Im from chattanooga but lived in Knoxville some. In chatt you have Olivet Baptist Church. In Knoxville you have Mt. Moriah FBH. I sing with Corey Prather and Hipraize and I have my own group but neither are affiliated with a church.

@cpatter4 Cali is very laid back. I'm getting used to it. West Angles COGIC seem to have a good sound. They do things in a Spirit of Excellence. While living in Nashville Tn. I found that Mt. Zion Baptist Church has great sound.
I wonder if there are good (church) choirs in Memphis? Maybe Mt. Vernon with a new minister of music huh.

@hyacinthb The comment what chu' talkin 'bout, WIllis was during an era when the west coast was a leader in Gospel Music. That seemingly has dried up. Tonex was doin it for a minute until he changed directions. So was Bishop Pearson. San Diego, San Bernardino, Oceanside and parts of So. Cal seem to have a dearth of talent. I'm sure some new talent is out there but not yet exposed.

This choir is awesome and one of my favorites.
@Chemistryent7 - A rendition of the "I Must Tell" song was also sung by the Soul Children of Chicago on their "Lived and Blessed" CD, and the song is entitled "He's Worthy!"

These chirrin can SANG! It just don't make no sense.

You definintely do not find this style of singing on the west coast. You can only find this type of singing in the midwest and the south (especially the south). Down here the sound is very thick and rich. VERY dramatic

GRE1400, I have agree with hyacinthb as far as there being good gospel out on the west coast....HOWEVER, this style of gospel does not exist in abundance out there. A sound like this is RARE! I hope you have some luck finding some thing.

seriously, I heard the same thing from a friend of mine awhile back in reference to hard to find music

GRE1400, "what chu' talkin 'bout, WIllis?" Hard to find? What part of the West Coast are you in? L.A. is one of the Gospel capitals. James Cleveland and So. Cal., Keith Pringle and PCC, Margaret Pleasant Douroux, Rickey Grundy, Kurt Carr, Darryl Coley, Walter, Edwin, Tramaine, and the list goes on. Min. Rivers' style is not unique. They are very good. Trained very well. I'm from L.A. and we've been singing like this for years- our church choirs sang like this. Help me out West Coast.
Who sings "I must tell" I heard this song in Memphis YEARSSS ago, been looking.. Do AVOF sing that?

It was written and sung by Kathy Taylor of Houston,TX back in the day. The old Whitehaven District Choir used to sing it. I posted a video of them singing it in a 1988 choir contest.
