Welling Films presents the World Premiere of the much anticipated Docu-drama, The Messenger: 360 Days of Bolivar at Houston's own Worldfest International Film Festival. The Messenger features a unique look into the lives of some of the saltiest characters one could ever find in Texas who live at what they call the end of the road. The film delves into the personal lives of the characters leading up to, and after the landfall of Hurricane Ike on Bolivar Peninsula on the southeastern coast of Texas.
Director Shawn Welling, 3-time Remi Award Winner, states, When we were first introduced to these individuals in their humble surroundings, we werent sure whether to feel sorry for them... or for ourselves.
Cinematographer Roger Scott Budge adds that, The visuals and the dialogue captured here in Bolivar helped remind us of the spiritual concerns versus the material concerns of life
Associate Producer, Michael Berry states, These individuals are straight out of central casting and you couldnt hire an actor anywhere that can personify the wit and character of these real life individuals.
I've seen it! I loved it! I grew up thinking that Eugene Miller (person in the film) was my uncle. He invited me. His story is so sad and uplifting at the same time. That he keeps his faith even though he's been hurt. It's something we should all be hard pressed to learn, and it's a hard lesson. Michael Pickering seems like a great guy with some really great philosophies. It amazes me some of the labels that people put on others. This movie gets you in the gut. Take the time to see this one!!
