Underwater

I took the plunge, literally. We've just released our first campaign commercial, and it was filmed underwater.

You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that is the end of any nation.

Ok Charlie, ur..umm..I mean demiurge, lets get something straight. The simple point many are trying to make or recognize is that the state is not the solution for their problems.

We don't care how well it may be working. If it isn't small - it's not working.

The goal should be reduction in government in all aspects, except for perhaps defense due to the current geopolitical situation. Anything less is Democratic rhetoric "hope, change, breath of fresh air etc...

What is so sacrosanct about small government?

Just because Reagan made a big deal about it (and then threw it to the winds anyway)?

Like what Obama said, i don't care whether government is big or small, but only whether it works for us citizens.

Very simple GlennMag, big government doesn't work. Look at Detroit. In fact, government in general is not efficient and represses the human spirit.

Who is Obama, you or anyone one for that matter to decide or grade if government is working and should be expanded?

The government in the U.S. is suppose to support and protect our right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness - that is it. Just because something is "working" doesn't mean government should be doing it or expanding it.

I think we have different definitions of "working".

But there are "failure of the commons" matters that can only be dealt with by a concerted effort of people, and why should such a concerted effort not be called "government"?

If a community that experiences robbery appoints amongst themselves a guard to keep out robbers, is such government bad?
