  • Damn, that's tough. Don't even know if I'll make it. Butt I do notice something: I don't know the Green Berets drop-out rate, but the Marine Recon is about 50%, Navy SEAL about 80%, and Air Force PJ about 90%. It seems like the less physically-oriented a branch is the larger their drop-out rate at the end.

Again, this is hardcore and I don't know if I'd make it, but makes one wonder what the drop out rate would be if, say, Marines ran PJ selection and vice-versa.

  • I'm 15, I've been looking reading up on this stuff and been looking it up and i'm interested in becoming a PJ or somthing like these guys who dont neccessarily shoot up the enemy but go in and save the lives of your buddies and allies and are the best of the best. Any former PJ's or like Tier 1 operators or any guys like that who could tell me what i should do to like prepare for this hardcore shit or like any kind of diet or workout i should get accustumed to? I really want to be that 10%

  • @DrPierreRoberre True true, but imo it goes beyond physical exertion in being an SF candidate. It goes to pushing yourself to the point where it hurts and beyond. IMO people like Infantry Marines would be more accustomed to pushing themselves to the limit than administrative Airmen would. Maybe with Marines there will only be 50% rather than 90% d/o

The end result is always consistent: only the absolute best will make it. But it will still make for an interesting experiment. :P

  • @yrabeiro When it gets to that level of athleticism and "hardcoreness" i don't think it matters what branch of the military these men come from. I get what you're saying though, about switching out candidates between branches. It would probably make a difference at the Basic Training level or some secondary training, but not here. Special Forces candidates are the best of the best, no matter what branch they come from.

  • Can't wait to start. Looking forward to the challenge
