Lauded as the first television series and website in American Sign Language, deafplanet.com is a television series and website which is designed for the simultaneous education and entertainment of Deaf and hearing audiences. Set in the not-too-distant future, the concept is based around the adventures of a slow-witted but curious Earth teen, Max. While goofing around in a display at a rocket museum, Max somehow manages to launch himself into space. After a giddy ride, he crashes into the home of Kendra, a Deaf teenager, and an inhabitant of Deaf Planet.

Max is at first confused by the sign language used on the planet, but is helped by his ship's Wondrous, Indispensable Language Machine (WILMA) an interpreter who bridges the gap between Max and the Deaf residents of Deaf Planet. Kendra promises to get Max back home with the help of the many wise and eccentric inhabitants of Deaf Planet.
