@4madscience Thanx. Thinking about getting one.
-
I thought you would have a follow up after you replaced the sensor. Thanks for the video my 1992 Vette was having the same issues.
-
so it was ur coolant sensor that made it misfire how
-
How's ur LT1 on gas?
-
you may need that heat padding because the headers do get really hot. It may even make you feel like the AC dose not work. So check that out bud.

Definitely buy one - you'll love it!

Regarding gas mileage, I got a 15 -16mpg around town - with my foot in it most of the time. You know how that goes... ;) Going easy on it, I've gotten upwards of 18 - 19 mpg city. On the highway driving between 70 - 75 mph, I'd get anywhere from 24 - 27 mpg. Not too bad for a big ole 4500 lb. V8 cop car with 190K mi. on it!
Yes, heat is definitely an issue with the LT1 relative to heat from the the stock exhaust manifold (and headers too) and heat soak to the rear spark plugs and wires.

I tested the old CTS by putting it in a small soup pan of cold water, and my multimeter hooked up to the terminals to observe resistance measurements. I heated the water to the boillng point, while observing the change in resistance values of the sensor. You should see an incremental and predictable change in the resistance values. Mine did initially, then it started throwing erroneous values - all over the map - once the water temp got over 130'F, Definitely a bad CTS.

I sold my 9C1 back in early August, but I would like to address some of the member comments and provide some feedback. Yes, replacing the coolant temp sensor did, in fact, fix the misfiring / back-firing issue that I documented on video Clips 1 and 2.

Thanks for your suggestion. The problem did, in fact, turn out to be the engine coolant temp sensor, as suspected.
