DCD editor Penny Jones talks with APC by Schneider SVP of Innovation Neil Rassmussen following his talk at DCD London entitled 'Do New Physical Demands Spell the End for Traditional Raised Floor Cooling'. Rasmussen launched his idea at the event, alongside a new cooling economizer product launch by APC. Rasmussen says servers themselves can be used to guide where air flows in a data center, and with the right containment the need for raised floor cooling (which 90% of data centers sit on can be eliminated.
Sounds more like a theory. Read the white papers with APC and you will learn that these are scare tactics used to fatten APC's wallet.
