MMA H.E.A.T. was on the scene when MMA legend Bas Rutten did a Q&A with Bobby Pittman, Jr. of TapouT Magazine at the Los Angeles Fitness Expo on January 28, 2012. In part two of his talk, El Guapo talks about overcoming asthma and increasing lung capacity with his O2 Trainer, the philosophy behind high altitude training and the importance of properly understanding martial arts techniques. Marcus Kowal assists Bas in demonstrating his MMA Body Action System. In addition, John Perretti, Former UFC Matchmaker, surprises Bas with a couple questions from the audience.

  • @swedd2 I want to add "For the creation of true MMA in America",

drives me crazy when people claim to be mma fans when they don't even know anything about the history. There's so much mythology of how everyone thinks the very early UFC fights were meaningful? If you want a comparison, just watch Extreme fighting 1-4 and you will see guys like olympic medalist Kevin Jackson, Kenny Monday, kick boxing world champion Maurice Smith, Number 1 bjj fighter Mario Sperry, Pat Miletich, Erik Paulson, etc

  • The first UFCs before Perretti were spectacles and Royce fought bums! Watch battle cade extreme fighting were guys like Mario Sperry and Igor Zinoviev were fighting!

UFC in the beginning were "purposeful mismatches" done by Art Davie and Royce's brother Rorian who just used the UFC as an infomercial for Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Royce got in there and fought but he did not fight the best fighters in the world. I mean his first fight was against a boxer with a glove on, I mean come on. Pure spectacles.

  • Its so crazy how no one recognizes the legendary John Perretti at this mma expo, Perretti is single handedly responsible for the creation of true MMA and bringing all the best fighters to the UFC in the early days.

    1. Designing the gloves used even today - Perretti

    2. Rounds - Perretti

    3. Weight classes - Perretti

    4. Wrapping hands - Perretti

    5. Finding top fighters, belfort, ortiz, wand, rutten - Perretti

    6. Throwing out Tournaments - Perretti

    and on and on

  • Cool! :D

  • @MegaCineplex Actually a lot of them use the same techniques your HS or College wrestling coach uses. Weight cutting is pretty dangerous and it's a bad idea to do it by yourself. As far as workouts they're pretty simple and all you need is maybe a HR monitor. Just google Bill Starr's 5x5 for a good strength training program and run or bike for cardio. It's not really that difficult, if anything join a Muay Thai or MMA gym.

  • He should also mention don't try this at Home , their vitals are constantly being supervised by a professional the average person has no limits and might push his body to far

I wish they made tutorials on exercise routines salt water weight cutting , condition , training routines and tips , MMA fighters work with the best trainers in the world , that's why their the best at weight cutting and conditioning.

  • i hope ppl bought it
