Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències. València

This is the talk Miguel Angel Aloy gave after receiving the IDEA 2011 prize from the "Fundación de la Ciudad de la Artes y las Ciencias" in Valencia. It is in spanish, but here it is (very loosely) translated what he said in the first few sentences of his discourse, because it is very important:
"It is a great honor for me to receive this award and I am sincerely grateful for it. I have to remark on the fact that you have decided to award IDEA for a project of this type within an area in which, in the current research landscape, the applied science is favored over the fundamental one, and within the latter the observational projects are systematically prioritized over the theoretical ones. This discrimination is not only limited to the project financing, but is also widely present in the journals, particularly in those with high impact factors, whose editors tend to precautionary censor theoretical contributions."
