  • If I'm not mistaken isn't this from when the show was edited for ABC daytime? If so, were the episodes edited down to a shade under 22 minutes like they were for local syndication?

  • I hate how they shorten theme songs. My goodness this was a terrible offender of it. Ha! And, this is one of my favorite theme songs. :( Sad to see it butchered. And, to someone who said ABC sitcoms were the worst at doing this. You're right. Terrible because most ABC sitcoms had the best themes. This, Full House, Step By Step, Three's Company...All shortened in syndication.

  • damn im sure the musicians and song writers hated this kind of crap!

  • and even "Coach" also used a shortened theme song sometimes, too.

ABC is very guilty for having inconsistent opening credits on many of their sitcoms, even before the '80s and '90s.

"Taxi," was also another ABC (later NBC) sitcom that fell into the shortened credits trap.

As well as "Mork and Mindy."

  • "Perfect Strangers" was just one of many ABC sitcoms from the 80's and 90's that had their opening credits heavily edited for syndication, others include "Webster" (ABC era), "Mr. Belvedere", "Full House", "Family Matters", "Growing Pains", "Benson", "Roseanne", "Step by Step", "Too Close for Comfort" "Bosom Buddies", "Who's the Boss?", and "Boy Meets World".

And yes, it is really dumb when they do that, but that's good old (obvious sarcasm) syndication for you.

  • Surprisingly, when Perfect Strangers was last shown on TV Land and N@N a few years back, they showed the full opening, but on other eps., they used this short opening.

  • That's what "syndication" means. It's really dumb and pointless when everything gets cut short. Trust me, they will show this opening if it ever airs like on Nick @ Nite (again) or WGN.

  • They used a shortened version of the season 2 theme. They didn't have the part with 'No matter what the odds are this time, etc.'

  • For "Falling in Love is", did they use the shortened season 2 theme, or did they just use the season 1 theme? I'll have to go back and check the DVD but I didn't notice anything different.

  • I don't like this, they cut out some nice music, and all the scenes of Larry and Balki heading to Chicago, AND the revolving door scene. :( I remember them using this opening, but had forgotten. I'd bet if they ever air the show again, they'd use this opening, unless they can find a way to make it even shorter.
