October 28, 2011 — The White Salmon River in Washington state is flowing again as the nearly 100-year-old Condit Dam was disabled with explosives Wednesday. The reservoir draining took about 2 hours. Further demolition is scheduled in 2012. The event is a significant milestone for river restoration and dam removal nationwide.

Not for long though, that sediment will grow plants like rich compost.

How dumb are you?
That giant mud scar is extremely fertile and will bring back the real natural riverside that existed before the dam.
It's a part of the river *restoration* plan :p

Yeah, because I am sure they consulted with engineers, did an environmental impact survey, and then said, "fuck it, let's blow that shit up, yeehaw!". Do you realize how much damage having the massive construction machines there for the months require to do it your way would do? If you would do basic research, you would see most environmental groups agreed with this plan of action, but I am sure your expert knowledge far outweighs theirs, right?
