This is a good version but any version by anyone who doesn't include the guitar solo from 3:00 on isn't good enough

I love this song but think this demo shows how important and substantial the input of Chris Potter was on the final version on the album, and indeed the rest of Urban Hymns

Is this before Mcabe rejoined? I feel like this is lacking the stardust that made the verve so good, I always found that it was Nick's guitar lines which moved me more than Ashcroft's vocals or songwriting.

Agreed. This is magic.
It's only on stuff like this that you hear what the band is really like and get the emotion. By the time it gets on to CD it's had all the edge produced and mixed off it.
