Comments encouraged- Rachel performed this at the first round of the International Russian Music Competition. This was her first performance of this piece. It was also her first performance in the competition, possibly accounting for her unusual mistake in the beginning. She originally chose this prelude and fugue (BWV 884) because all her pieces were to be new, and she wanted to choose the easiest one- she didn't realize that executing an interesting interpretation is very difficult indeed in this work! She was the youngest competitor, and received third place and a special jury prize in this competition. She is 14 years old, and studies as a scholorship student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under Dr. Sharon Mann.

  • Almost flawless except for the mini mishap at 00:38

  • I have listened to all performances of this work, and this is the gold standard for this piece. I am amazed you are 14!

  • very NICE!! very WELL played!!

  • Fine lively version and like Landowska and her student Ruzickova, though theirs on harpsichord at these tempi nearly. Very beautiful choice and congratulations!

  • Rachel, I love your Bach. Absolutely full understanding of polyphony and also a great musical sence.

  • Very nice! I was wondering why Rachel chose to perform this prelude and fugue, as it is the easiest and one of the least interesting, but she does a very good job regardless. Congratulations on the third prize!

  • Good job Rachel! You always do so well with Bach.
