Not impressed with Lyoto because he knocked out Evans with wild punches? You really expected Lyoto throwing straight karate punches to finish a fight? Dude, that's just silly. The quick straight left punch is Lyoto's main weapon. He uses it only to stun people then finish them off. It would be funny to see Lyoto or any fighter using technical straight punches instead of the more powerful hooks to finish an opponent. Have you seen a picture of Rashad's eyes after he got knocked out?
try ju-jitsu in real life when there are friends around For eg you put my friend in an arm bar I'm going to punt your head off your body while your on the ground, it's over rated. Try and attack me I'm going to shoot you so none of your training saved you. I studied Isshin-Ryu for 8 years earned my black belt and would never get in a fight if it's avoidable because there are to many crazies in this world and you never know who has a gun on them. UFC would be better if they fought to the death.
you know what? post some videos from YOUR fights and we'll see how good a fighter you really are? and btw, it feels like youre insinuating that only "fighters" could make valid comments on MMA fights~! THE COMMENTS YOUR MAKING RIGHT NOW is proving that ALL WRONG! sorry!
I disagree-first, they never traded shots-Rashad hit Lyoto three times in the fight, two jabs and one kick-almost every "wild" punch Machida threw contacted Rashad's head-even the left jab that ko'd him wasn't full on the chin-Funny thing is, it was the same for Rashad vs Liddell and Griffin-Evans threw and got lucky in both fights. He did what it took to win (much respect), but its not Lyoto's fault Rashad didnt train since he was three. Maybe Evans won't be so cocky anymore-
NOOO i think that kick straight punch combo was a beautful thang!!! but that's why i was mad the way he FINISHED!!that combo was classic Shotokan..my Shotokan Shian allways stressed to us.. WE ARE SHOTOKAN.." WE DON'T GIVE GROUND..WE TAKE GROUND" that's why when we do a front stance we step foward with the left leg instead of stepping back on the right leg.
BJJ is nothing but Judo.i started in 1987 in Atemi Ryu Ju-jitsu in Hialeah under Philip Chenique Lioni Velasquez and Nelson Gonzalez.i moved to Ohi and got my black belt in Shotokan.i've trained with people of other styles and disciplines over the years and like i said the title MMA is a joke!!I don't train for competiton i train for REAL LIFE.but i have competed for many years.
i think machida's performance was good and accurate and totally out classed rashad... rashad had no answer for what machida was doing to him and you're gonna tell me that the low kick straight punch combo that machida landed in the 1st round rocking rashad wasnt a thing of beauty... you should since you have shotokan experience... i dont know man... its just my opinion.. and i respect yours
first of all i have problem with the title"mixed martial artist" it's a stupid ass marketing tool like Extreme martial artist which is noting but some fool flipping all over the place!i have japanese Ju-jitsu experince,Shotokan, some tang soo doo,i've wotked with BJJ people boxing etc. so by definition i'm a MIXED MARTIAL ARTIST!!the name MMA is stupid to me!if you have 23 years thai boxing experience than you know EXACTLY what i mean when i say Machida lacked technique
now i would like to know the name ofyou academy or gym you train at... and the name of you're BJJ trainer.. and what kind of martial arts or MMA exp you have under you're name...

Damn, that sucks. Well, looks like Machida will be a champ and run through the division one by one.
